Memorization (updated again)

  1. Work on muting and trying to play more intuitively by feel. Remember the feeling in your hands from good reps when you got it right. 
  2. Practice in order, step by step. 
  3. Always use metronome.  
  4. Take in information, then focus on left hand and musicality, don’t use the page for that section any more.  
  5. Think about muting contextually within each part.  
  6. Work on memorization.  start aura lee. 
  7. Focus on primarily looking at left hand.  
  8. Stay relaxed and remember to breathe.  
  9. find and leverage patterns.  

Conditioning

  1. Watch your pick form, pointer and pick tip towards body, thumb perpendicular to pointer and along broad side of pick.  
  2. Remember to consider and visualize available options for parts.  
  3. Try to reduce information to simplest form, look for reduced payload notes or portions.  
  4. Exagerrated wrist twist picking.  
  5. Set an alarm for practice, read page at the beginning of practice to stay on track.  

Injecting Energy

  1. Work on Notes on the G string and Au Clair through to old joe clark. 
  2. Make sure to play and sing nice and loud all the time.
  3. Get aggressive if necessary to shake loose inhibitions and inject energy into your playing.
  4. If having trouble, take a moment to ascertain and address the root cause of your issue rather than trying to power through be force of sheer effort.
  5. Make at least on positive statement about your own playing and singing each day, whether you believe it now, or just would like it to be true in the future.
  6. Do any explicit thinking that's necessary before you play. Continue to release any worded or superfluous thoughts during play. Don't react or get flustered by mistakes and create a window for your mind to interject itself where it isn't needed.
